Civil Code 1927

Tenant's Pursuit of Quiet Enjoyment

I applaud the Oakland City Council for taking steps to help combat homelessness in the City of Oakland with this new Ordinance.

Oakland City Council member Rebecca Kaplan says the ordinance

…helps to mitigate these hardships by requiring landlords to pay $9,875 to those evicted from three or more bedroom units, $8,000 to renters evicted from two-bedroom units, $6,500 to people evicted from studios or one-bedroom units, and an additional payment of $2,500 per unit for households with low-income, elderly or disabled people.

She discussed the ordinance more in an article written for sfbaytimes.com   Here is a link to the article.  http://sfbaytimes.com/taking-steps-prevent-tenant-displacement-homelessness/

Here is an article from KPIX on the same ordinance.  http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2017/11/08/oakland-city-council-approves-tenant-protection-ordinance/
